Mit Hum of Hurt veröffentlicht die Mathcore-/Metalcore-Institution Converge bereits ihr zweites Album im Jahr 2026. Während der Vorgänger Love Is Not Enough stärker auf metallische Härte und Chaos setzte, zeigt sich die Band hier düsterer, zäher und emotionaler. Das Album greift das Konzept des mysteriösen „Hum“ als Metapher für kollektiven Schmerz auf und wirkt insgesamt roher und introspektiver. Musikalisch rücken Hardcore-Einflüsse stärker in den Vordergrund, während der Metal-Anteil etwas zurückgenommen wurde. Trotz der veränderten Ausrichtung bleibt die unverwechselbare Intensität von Converge jederzeit erhalten. Ein forderndes, finsteres Album, das sich erst nach mehreren Durchläufen vollständig erschließt.

With Hum of Hurt, Converge release their second album of 2026. While its predecessor Love Is Not Enough leaned more heavily into metallic aggression and chaos, this record feels darker, slower-burning, and more emotional. Built around the concept of the mysterious „Hum“ as a metaphor for collective pain, the album comes across as raw, introspective, and deeply atmospheric. Hardcore influences take a more prominent role this time, while the metal elements are slightly dialed back. Despite the shift in focus, Converge’s trademark intensity remains intact throughout. A challenging and bleak record that reveals more of its depth with each listen.
