MEHR ALS NUR EIN MAGAZIN.
Heute ist die neue Ausgabe des OX Fanzines angekommen – und ich habe gerade die letzte Ausgabe fertig gelesen.
Was ich an solchen Magazinen liebe? Ich entdecke Bands, Interviews und Reviews, die mir sonst wahrscheinlich entgangen wären.
Spotify, YouTube & Co. empfehlen meist Musik, die zu dem passt, was ich ohnehin schon höre. Ein Magazin kann mich dagegen bewusst in eine völlig andere Richtung schicken.
Eine Review. Ein Interview. Ein unbekannter Name. Und plötzlich entdeckt man eine Band, die man sonst vielleicht nie gefunden hätte.
Für mich sind Musikmagazine deshalb mehr als Informationsquellen. Sie sind ein Teil der Musikkultur und eine Möglichkeit, Musik abseits von Algorithmen zu entdecken.
Ich hoffe, dass uns Magazine wie das OX noch lange erhalten bleiben.
MORE THAN JUST A MAGAZINE.
The new issue of OX Fanzine arrived today – and I’ve just finished reading the previous one.
What I love about magazines like this? They introduce me to bands, interviews and reviews I probably would have missed otherwise.
Spotify, YouTube & Co. mostly recommend music that fits what I already listen to. A magazine can take me in a completely different direction.
A review. An interview. An unfamiliar name. And suddenly you discover a band you might never have found otherwise.
To me, music magazines are more than sources of information. They are part of music culture – and a way to discover music beyond algorithms.
I really hope magazines like OX will be around for a long time.
