Seit Jahren nutze ich fast ausschließlich das Nolly Plug-in von Neural DSP — und ich bin nach wie vor begeistert davon. Besonders seit der Transpose-Funktion zum virtuellen Runterstimmen der Gitarre.
Klar, die Meinungen dazu gehen weit auseinander. Viele schwören auf echte Downtunings mit dickeren Saiten und separaten Gitarren. Ich persönlich liebe aber genau den Komfort daran: keine anderen Saitensätze, kein Umbau, keine zweite Gitarre — einfach meine gewohnte Ibanez RG nehmen und loslegen.
Umso interessanter fand ich einen aktuellen Bericht über das Tour-Rig von Kreator. Dort wurde erzählt, dass selbst sie die Transpose-Funktion in ihrem Quad Cortex nutzen.
Irgendwie bestätigt einen das schon, wenn selbst Bands dieser Größenordnung moderne Lösungen pragmatisch einsetzen. Am Ende zählt für mich vor allem eins: Dass der kreative Flow beim Songwriting nicht unterbrochen wird.
For years, I’ve been using the Nolly plugin from Neural DSP almost exclusively — and I still absolutely love it. Especially since the Transpose feature for digitally downtuning the guitar was introduced.
I know opinions on this are divided. A lot of players prefer real downtunings with heavier strings and dedicated guitars. But honestly, I love the comfort and flexibility of it: no different string gauges, no constant setup changes, no extra guitars — just grab my Ibanez RG and start playing.
That’s why I found it really interesting to see a recent report about the touring rig of Kreator. They mentioned that even they use the transpose function in the Quad Cortex on tour.
It’s somehow reassuring to see bands at that level also using modern practical solutions. At the end of the day, the most important thing for me is this: keeping the creative flow alive while songwriting.
