Album Review: Wraith – Fueled by Fear

Wraith’s third album, Fueled by Fear, is a 14-track assault on the senses released under Prosthetic Records. Hailing from Indiana, this band proudly describes their sound as „No Bullshit Speed & Thrash Metal,“ and they deliver on that promise from the very first chord, immediately inviting listeners to headbang along.
The album showcases precise and razor-sharp riffing, reminiscent of the best of thrash metal history. However, Fueled by Fear never feels like a mere copy of Slayer or similar bands. Instead, Wraith adds their unique twist with cool breaks and surprising elements that keep the listener engaged. Each song possesses enough character to stand alone as a single, ensuring the album never grows dull.
One of the band’s trademarks is their vicious, snarling vocal style, which, drenched in reverb, flirts with early black metal aesthetics. While initially jarring, this combination proves to be a winning formula after a few listens, making Fueled by Fear one of the thrash metal surprises of 2024. The modern production quality only enhances the experience, making it a must-listen for fans of the genre.
