I really enjoy reading band biographies. Right now, I’m deep into “The Cure – Dark Coloured Years” by Ian Gittins. This British post-punk band has influenced me just as much as Sisters of Mercy. Reading about the highs and lows, the personal and physical breakdowns the musicians went through, it almost feels unreal that they managed to pull it off with their unique style, from dark wave to pop and back again, all the way to the top of the world. Those struggles, contradictions, and crashes are exactly what make their story so powerful and inspiring. How about you? Do you like reading band biographies? Any recommendations?
Neben dem Musikmachen lese ich auch richtig gerne Band-Biografien. Aktuell ist es „The Cure – Dunkelbunte Jahre“ von Ian Gittins. Diese britische Post-Punk-Band hat mich mindestens genauso geprägt wie Sisters of Mercy. Wenn man liest, durch welche Höhen und Tiefen, menschlich wie körperlich, die Musiker gegangen sind, wirkt es fast unglaublich, dass sie es mit ihrer einzigartigen Art geschafft haben, vom dunklen Wave über Pop und wieder zurück bis ganz an die Weltspitze.
