Testament – Para Bellum

Para Bellum is an album that does not hit instantly but grows stronger with every listen. Testament combine classic Bay Area thrash with black and death metal influences, modern grooves and ballad like moments, all delivered with outstanding technical precision and musicianship.
The production Billy Peterson with Juan Urteaga, mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren is powerful, clear and highly detailed. Especially striking are the precise aggressive drumming and the perfect balance between brutality and melody.
Conclusion: Not easy listening thrash but a mature and versatile statement, for me clearly a Thrash Metal Album of the Year.

Para Bellum ist ein Album, das nicht beim ersten Durchlauf zündet, dafür aber mit jedem Hören wächst. Testament verbinden klassischen Bay Area Thrash mit Black und Death Metal Anleihen, modernen Grooves und balladesken Momenten, technisch wie spielerisch auf höchstem Niveau.
Die Produktion Billy Peterson mit Juan Urteaga, Mix Master bei Jens Bogren ist druckvoll, klar und extrem detailreich. Besonders auffällig sind das präzise aggressive Drumming und die perfekte Balance zwischen Brutalität und Melodie.
Fazit: Kein Easy Listening Thrash, sondern ein reifes vielseitiges Statement, für mich klar ein Thrash Metal Album des Jahres.
