With the discovery of Pandora and the instant availability of MP3s from virtually any artist, my appreciation for music and its artistry began to fade. Music transformed from an experience into a commodity, a product to be consumed rather than cherished. Album covers, lyrics, and the deeper connections I once forged with the songs started to escape my attention.
I had always been immersed in music, diving into every melody, exploring every lyric. But at this stage, I found myself merely skimming the surface. It wasn’t that I didn’t love music anymore—I did—but the accessibility, the sheer volume of what was available, diluted the experience.
This detachment from the art would persist for some time.
