When it comes to creating melodies and riffs, I often find that the best ones come directly from jamming on my instrument. There’s something about being in the moment, letting my fingers find the notes, that brings out the rawest, most authentic ideas.
But when it comes to concepts, lyrics, or other creative sparks, I’ve noticed they often hit me when I’m least expecting it—like in the sauna. It’s usually when I’m not actively thinking about music, and my mind is in a meditative, relaxed state, that inspiration strikes. As soon as these ideas come, I make sure to capture them by recording a quick voice note on my phone.
