Today, I dived into „A Mass To The Grotesque“ by The Troops of Doom, a band hailing from Brazil. This album, their second, features guitarist Jairo Guedz, a name well-known from the early days of Sepultura. The music delivers a gritty blend of Thrash Metal with Death and Black Metal influences, strongly reminiscent of early Sepultura’s guitar work. Yet, it stands out with a modern, punchy production that brings an old-school style into a contemporary light.
Throughout the album, you can catch glimpses of Slayer-like riffs, reminiscent of „South of Heaven,“ adding a nostalgic touch. This is a brilliant album for fans of old-school thrash, especially those who enjoy the darker and heavier side of the genre. Highly recommended!
